Things to do in Cala Blanca

Cala Blanca
Nestled between the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean and the green hills of Menorca, Cala Blanca (White Cove) is a quaint resort town located in the northwestern coast of beautiful Menorca. Cala Blanca is a relatively new resort, which means that although all tourist amenities are available, the town is not as crowded as nearby destinations like Ciutadella or Cala Bosch. Surrounded by rocky inlets, sandy beaches, and pine trees, Cala Blanca is a dreamy sun and beach destination and the ideal spot for an unforgettable family holiday or for a relaxing island getaway. Come here to take a well-deserved break from the daily routine and to experience first-hand the best that western Menorca has to offer.

When to go to Cala Blanca

Like the rest of Menorca, Cala Blanca is blessed with pleasant Mediterranean weather and mild temperatures year round. Average annual temperatures are around 18 °C, with July being the hottest month (daytime temperatures can reach 28 °C) and January being the coolest (11 °C). The tourist season in Cala Blanca starts in May and lasts until the end of October, and during this time visitors can enjoy an average of 10 hours of sunshine a day. Rainfall is common during September and October, but these are only showers that don't last long. Although Cala Blanca is not overrun with tourists, you have more chances of minimising the crowd factor if you visit the resort in May and September.

Where to Stay

Modern and comfortable all inclusive resorts are located in the southern part of town, which is popular among package holiday tourists. Aparthotels (the local version of serviced holiday apartments) are also available in town. Those who prefer to stay in a more secluded location should consider the upscale options and luxury apartments that tend to be clustered around Sa Caleta, north of Cala Blanca's main beach.

Attractions & Events

If white sand beaches and crystal clear waters are your kind of thing, we bet you will be spending a lot of time at Cala Blanca's main beach, a glorious stretch of sand that is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkelling. Nearby Cala Santandria is another great place to spend a relaxing day on the beach. Watersports equipment can also be rented at this beach, and there is a dive centre offering lessons to both beginner and advanced divers. Those who prefer an active holiday will also find plenty of things to do here. For example, a popular activity involves cycling along bike lane that links Cala Blanca with the pretty town of Ciutadella, which is packed with museums, interesting architecture, boutiques, and upscale restaurants. If you are feeling energetic, make the most of the fabulous mountain scenery that surrounds Cala Blanca by going on day hikes. The nightlife scene in Cala Blanca is on the quiet side. The music venues and cocktail bars along Avenida de Platja (the waterfront) provide evening entertainment, and there is a club in Cala Santandria. As for the events calendar, visitors who are in Cala Blanca in June should not miss the Sant Joan Festival, one of the most important celebrations in the whole island and a festival of light, music, parades, and fireworks. The Sant Joan Festival is held every year on 24 June.
