Holidays to Los Angeles

Both first time and repeat visitors are certain to enjoy a visit Los Angeles. There is so much to experience and visit in and around the city. This premier west coast city is home to a range of culture, cuisine and 24/7 entertainment. You can also experience the ambiance of a working Hollywood studio – Universal Studios Hollywood is the world’s largest working movie studio and you can tour the backlot where filming has taken place since 1912, plus explore some amazing rides that place you inside some of your favourite films and TV shows, including The Simpsons, Jaws, Transformers, Jurassic World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It’s little wonder it is referred to as the entertainment capital of L.A.

Los Angeles holidays would not be complete without a visit to Hollywood. For many people, simply being in and around this part of Los Angeles is enough to experience a taste of glamour and glitz. The heart of Hollywood is at the crossing of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue. This area is home to hand and footprints left in cement by the stars over the years, the Kodak Theatre, the Madame Tussaud Wax Museum and a number of high end restaurants and shops. You can also pose for your picture with the famous Hollywood sign in the background: the sign is situated on the crest of the Hollywood Hills. You can experience the ambiance of a working Hollywood studio by taking the weekday tours available at Paramount Studios, Universal Studios, Warner Studios as well as some of the smaller independent studios in the area.

Holidays to Los Angeles offer much more than Hollywood studios and movie stars. If you are travelling with children, Disneyland may just be the right destination for the whole family. Disneyland dates back to the 1950s and is the only Disney theme park built according to the designs of Walt Disney himself. Disneyland cannot help but put a smile on your face. There are different resorts to explore including the Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park and the Downtown Disney District. Attractions include fairy tale exhibitions, theme park rides, storytelling and meetings with life size cartoon characters. There is children’s dining as well as top range cooking for the adults.

Culturally minded visitors on Los Angeles holidays are well catered for by the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Getty Museum. The Museum of Contemporary Art, which first opened its doors to the public in 1979, is the only museum in LA focusing on contemporary artistic expression. The museum houses nearly 5,000 individual art works. Some of the well known modern artists with works on display are Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Piet Mondrian, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein as well as a range of budding new talent. The Getty Museum is devoted to visual art, from paintings and drawings to photographs and film.

For a breathtaking outdoors experience, visitors can take a drive alongside the many miles of beaches along the Pacific Ocean. Spending your holidays in Los Angeles gives you easy access to sunny beaches and the relaxed atmosphere of the many nearby seaside resorts.
