Holidays to Oman

When the powers that be decided it was time for Omans renaissance, the utmost respect and compassion were in evidence towards its people and culture during this rebirth and decision making process. Visitors and locals can delight in the fact that there are very few modern high-rise buildings in the capital, Muscat, and nothing to spoil its rich and culturally diverse heritage. The country's legacy of forts is flawlessly restored; and ancient crafts such as weaving are actively encouraged. Furthermore, traditional Arabian values, such as hospitality and practical devotion, are still apparent making Oman somewhere for guests to witness Islamic culture at its best and enthral its visitors on holiday in Oman.

The benefits of holidays in Oman include a stunningly unspoiled coastline, vast mountains, soaring deserts, and the flourishing capital Muscat, with its impressive forts, palaces, and fortified city.

In the Sharqiya Region, visitors on holidays to Oman can discover some of the region’s most popular attractions such as the pristine beaches of Sur, the spectacular turtle sites in Ras Al-Jinz and the Arabian dunes of Sharqiya (Wahiba) Sands. These seemingly endless sands are an artists’ haven.

Wilayat Badiyah, a remarkable oasis lying at the gateway of A'Sharqiyah Sands, is regarded as an ideal base for exploring the vast Arabian sands that unfold in front of you. These sands surround many oases and Al Hawiyah Oasis is such an example with its stunning peninsula forming a haven of lush vegetation, much more than any other oasis. The sharp golden dunes in the southern part of this oasis are among the most beautiful and if your sense of adventure warrants it, why not try out some Arabian sand skiing?

Exciting tourist attractions on offer for a truly memorable sand experience include 4x4 trips and the rather amusing and quirky camel racing.

Numerous forts and castles are among the cultural sights visible in Oman and these landmarks were traditionally used as lookout points. There are over 500 forts, castles, and towers in various architectural styles in Oman.

Oman's craggy mountains offer some exquisite scenery and probably the best opportunities for driving in dry wadis anywhere in the world. Many of the wadis have reasonable roads while others require serious some off-roading techniques.

Oman's spectacular beaches are major breeding grounds for various species of sea turtle and Masirah Island is perhaps the best option to view the largest number of leatherbacks anywhere in the world.

The area of Bawshar Sands lies close to the beaches of Muscat and is conveniently located within walking distance of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in the heart of the capital. Visitors will find the golden hills a magnet for drivers seeking adventure in their SUVs and watching the sunset whispering a sad farewell to Muscat from these vantage points is an ideal photo opportunity.
