Grand Cayman

Holidays to Grand Cayman

The largest of the Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman offers plenty of fun and excitement for tourists to take part in. The western side of the island will be ideal for those after fast paced Grand Cayman holidays, with plenty of popular restaurants, “with it” nightclubs and booming holiday resorts.

Activities for those taking their holidays in Grand Cayman are numerous and varied. Whether those on Grand Cayman holidays are looking for something to do in the sea, on land or even in the air, the island genuinely has something for everyone. Water based activities include snorkelling, scuba diving and parasailing, while there are also excursions available via submarine or on semi-submersibles which allow those on Grand Cayman holidays to experience the underwater life around the island. On these excursions visitors can expect to see reefs, shipwrecks and numerous kinds of fish including Damselfish, Parrotfish and Sergeant Majors. For those wanting a somewhat less strenuous activity on land, the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park is well worth a visit, with only a ten dollar entrance fee and enough to see and do to last all day long.

Those with families who are taking their holidays to Grand Cayman and who are after some activities that their children will enjoy can check out the Black Pearl Skate Park, which features the world’s biggest free standing wave, and even a virtual reality gaming section for the little ones who are missing their computer fix back home. There are also horse riding experiences that will appeal to both children and their parents, while parents perhaps looking to unload their kids for a few hours – or even a whole day – have the option of dropping them off at one of the various supervised camps that have plenty of activities to keep them entertained.

When the sun goes down, there are plenty of choices for evening entertainment in Grand Cayman. Those after a peaceful night out can simply choose to take a leisurely walk along the beautiful Seven Mile Beach – truly a sight to behold as the sun sets – or take a peaceful and romantic trip on one of the many sunset dinner and cocktail cruises available. Those after a bit more after dark excitement need not fear that they will be left out, however, with a range of nightclubs offering live music and dancing, parties on the beach itself, and lots of dinner shows also available at an array of establishments.

Those planning Grand Cayman holidays might want to check their calendar. The island has a range of annual events and festivals taking place throughout the year, including the Batabano Carnival in April, the Queen’s Birthday Parade in June and Pirates Week, which takes place over a ten day period in November.
