Holidays to Adelaide

Adelaide has all the excitement, culture and style of the big cities of Australia but retains its small town charm. Adelaide holidays offer everything from great architecture to buzzing nightlife all conveniently located for a great holiday. Adelaide, originally named after the wife of King William IV, has earned a reputation for fine dining, amazing hotels and a more refined holiday.

Wine lovers will not be disappointed as there are three wine regions within day trip distance including McLaren Vale, Clare Valley and Barossa Valley. Why not combine this with a visit to the Mount Lofty Summit in the Mount Lofty Ranges as this can offer breathtaking views of the city. There is even a restaurant and cafe as a reward for making it to the summit! Other great photo opportunities include the lookouts at Windy Point and Skye.

Sand seekers will love the seaside town of Glenelg and the many quaint restaurants and cafes to be discovered there. There is also the historic Hotel Grand. All this is accessible by tram from Adelaide city centre and can offer a break from the city when taking holidays in Adelaide. More beaches can be found at the Fleurieu Peninsula, south of Adelaide. There you can watch whales and penguins as well as take tours of the famous wineries.

Holidays to Adelaide would not be complete without visiting the world renowned Adelaide Zoo, which houses some of Australia's most famous inhabitants such as wallabies, kangaroos and echidnas.

If you want something a bit more wild on your holidays in Adelaide, then how about visiting one of the beautiful national parks like the Belair, Cleland or the Morialta? They offer walking trails, sports and activities, as well as picnic areas amongst the wildlife and many other facilities perfect for an interesting and unique experience. Not forgetting the privately owned and run Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary where you can see rarer examples of Australian animal life, including the platypus, tree kangaroo, quoll and bandicoot.

Another attraction not to be missed during holidays to Adelaide is the Haigh’s chocolate factory. It is here that you can take a tour and witness some of the best chocolate in the world being made in front of your eyes. This experience is all about the taste, with free samples always available. After checking out the chocolate factory, why not stop by the Coopers Brewery? This is the last large family owned brewery in Australia, founded in 1862 and well worth a visit.

The only licensed casino in South Australia can be found in Adelaide, and the Adelaide Casino does not disappoint. It makes for a classy and fun night out, and provides a touch of excitement on your holidays in Adelaide. The casino has three amazing restaurants, a nightclub with four bars - perfect for spending any winnings or commiserating losses in style!
