Holidays to Pattaya

The city of Pattaya is located on Thailand's eastern coast, along the Gulf of Thailand, and is a modern city with many historic and culturally significant locations. The city's population is just over 100,000 people, but because it has become a hot tourism spot, this area sees a great deal more people during the main tourist season, which lasts from October through April.

Holidays to Pattaya allow visitors to enjoy this beach resort area to the fullest, and in many different ways. However, this area was not always a tourism hot spot; up until the 1960s, the city was a quiet, fishing village. However, 100 American servicemen arrived in the city after fighting in the Vietnam War, and from that point forward, the area has grown to one of the best beach resorts in the region. Today, the city attracts more than four million people each year.

Holidays in Pattaya usually mean spending time on the beach. There are two main beachfront areas for visitors. One is Pattaya Beach, which is located near the centre of the city. Along this beach there are numerous restaurants, shops, bars and hotels. In addition, many people take to this beach for its jet skiing options, parasailing and sail boat rentals. Visitors will find the largest Asian beachfront shopping mall here, called the Central Festival Pattaya Beach Mall. Jomtien Beach is another option, in the southern most part of the bay. Pratumnak Hill divides the two beaches, and both are worth a visit. Numerous artisan shops are also stretched along both beaches.

When taking Pattaya holidays, there is plenty to do beyond the beaches. You can explore any of the 21 golf courses in or around the city. There are also several theme parks in the area, go-carting locations and zoos. A popular zoo for families is Elephant Village, where you can see traditional ceremonies dating back hundreds of years. Visit the 18-metre tall Buddha statue that overlooks the Wat Khao Phira Bat Temple. In addition, you can visit locations such as the Pattaya Park Beach Resort Water Park, the Alangkarm Theatre Pattaya, and the Underwater World Aquarium.

Laem Ratchawet built the Sanctuary of Truth, a wooden structure that explores the religious and natural elements of human life. You can see it in the heart of the city. Also, visit the Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden where there are 500 acres of gardens to explore. Walking Street is a red light district in the city and one of the largest tourism centres; it is especially famous for its nightlife. There are live music venues here, as well as sports bars, clubs and street entertainment.

In addition to these activities, guests will enjoy a wide range of cultural festivals and events taking place throughout the year. Shopping, bars and restaurants with international cuisine are available.

Travellers taking holidays to Pattaya are sure to find something that appeals to them.
