Taba

Holidays to Taba

The resort of Taba represents the Northern extreme of the Red Sea Riviera and as such is a popular spot for tourists from within Egypt and further afield. Originally a small Bedouin village, in recent decades its convenient location and coastal setting have seen it take off as a destination in its own right. Holidays in Taba are filled with an air of possibility as the spirit of the caravan remains in this traditional route stop.

Just 45kms from the international airport at Hurghada, Taba is easily accessible and combines a dedicated leisure oriented resort with a great base from which to explore all that Egypt has to offer.

The hot and sunny year-round climate makes Taba holidays a great choice for tennis and golf enthusiasts and there are some great facilities for these pastimes in the area. Given the resort’s Red Sea location, this is the perfect opportunity to try out a range of aquatic activities, with water sports being a popular pastime in the area.

Taking holidays to Taba means visitors can choose from adrenaline-fuelled activities such as windsurfing, waterskiing or wakeboarding or perhaps opt for something a little more sedate, by taking a skippered sailing charter.

Holidays in Taba also offer opportunities for anglers, who can enjoy deep-sea fishing trips, while those who prefer to explore underwater can choose from a range of scuba diving and snorkelling opportunities on offer in the area. The world-renowned Red Sea reefs, which are universally acknowledged as providing some of the best scuba diving on earth, make this a great place to learn or improve your sub-aqua skills.

For visitors who want to learn a little more about authentic Egypt, Taba is a great choice. Travel beyond the Taba Heights hotel complex, a short distance to the south of the resort, to discover the Bedouin camps in the Sinai desert. These nomadic people live without the intrusion of the modern world, eschewing telephones and televisions for a simpler life in the desert.

Just 5kms to the east of the resort you will find the Island of the Pharaoh, at Geziret Faraum. A short hop from the shore, this granite outcrop is topped by the fortress of Salag el-Din, which was constructed by Crusaders in the 12th century. In addition to offering an insight into the history of the area, the island presents a great vantage point from which to view the coasts of Israel and Jordan.

Another popular excursion, for travellers enjoying holidays in Taba, is the Coloured Canyon, which lies 70kms to the southwest of the resort. This canyon, carved by rivers long-since dried out, offers the opportunity to view sandstone in some stunning hues, examine fossils and witness the effects of thousands of years of erosion.
