The Rezidor group of luxury hotels has announced that it is to create a new property in Dubai. This will be the Park Inn by Radisson Dubai Al Jadaf and it will have 300 luxury guest rooms. The scheduled opening date for the hotel is 2015. The company’s management has stated that Dubai and the UAE is becoming a very promising market for this particular brand and it is delighted to be working alongside Aabar Investments to create a luxury hotel.

The Best Western group of luxury hotels is to open a new property in the Middle East in October. The group is one of the largest hotel chains in the world and its Best Western Premier brand will be opening a new property in Oman. The hotel will be in the heart of the business and commercial areas of Muscat. This will be the first hotel for the brand in this part of the world and the opening is due to the growth in tourism that the Middle East is seeing.

The Crowne Plaza hotel group is opening a new property in Qatar after a construction project that has taken almost three years. This is the first property for the group in the country. The hotel can be found in the heart of the city’s financial district and is part of a new Business Park. There are more than 280 rooms and suites, and there are also a number of residences available. The aim with the new hotel was to set a new standard in meeting and conference facilities as well as to provide top quality dining facilities.

The Golden Tulip luxury hotels brand is part of the Louvre group. It currently has plans to expand its holdings in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) over a period of four years. At the moment the brand has 44 hotels in this area and there are to be a further 46 hotels becoming a part of the brand by 2016. One of the properties will be located in Jordan and will come under the Royal Tulip brand, becoming a five star hotel. The Golden Tulip brand has a rating of four stars.

This will be known on the Majan Lounge and can be found on the ground floor of the departure terminal. The Kempinski Mall of Emirates Hotel is undergoing renovation work so that it is better able to compete with the influx of luxury hotels and other accommodation that are currently being developed in Dubai. The Millennium & Copthorne group of luxury hotels has just announced that it has taken on a total of ten new properties in Saudi Arabia and that these will be added to over the next few years. The development is being carried out by the Bright Start company. The property will have a prime location in grounds of around 11 acres. It has been announced that Abu Dhabi is to get a new luxury hotel. Hard Rock International has entered into an agreement with Aabar Properties to develop a Hard Rock branded five star hotel in the emirate. This will have nearly 400 rooms and will in the Corniche area, on the seafront. It is to be the first Middle East property for the brand. The hotel will have great views of the gulf and there will be plenty of facilities for guests to enjoy, including a variety of restaurants serving cuisines from around the world. One of the restaurants is to be a Hard Rock Café.

Both the 2012 World Luxury Hotel Awards and the Middle East Hotel Awards 2012 have recognised the achievements of this spa. The Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah is due to be opened at the beginning of 2013. This will be the first of the Waldorf Astoria hotels to be located in UAE. The aim of the new hotel is to offer a wide range of facilities to guests taking luxury holidays in the region. The Starwood group of luxury hotels has announced that it is to further expand its holdings in North Africa and the Middle East. At the present time the group has almost 70 properties in these regions and there are plans to add an extra 40. The group will be expanding in this region by around 60% over the next five years. In the last 18 months alone, there have been six new luxury hotels in the region and the opportunities for further growth show no signs of slowing down.

It was announced yesterday that the project is being re-launched, with an expected completion and opening date in 2016. There are plans for a new luxury resort to be created in Oman. This will be named Shaza Salalah and will be owned by the Shaza Hotels group; it is to be a luxury beach resort. Plans for the development include a Presidential Villa and a further 80 luxury villas, all of which will have their own private pools. The hotel accommodation will be in the form of a further 80 hotel apartments and more than 100 rooms, which will have great views of the Indian Ocean; some will enjoy their own ‘sky pool’.

The Ain Al Fayadha resort in Abu Dhabi is one of the region’s oldest luxury hotels and is due to reopen in June following a three year closure for an extensive restoration. It is estimated that the restoration has cost in the region of £610 million. With the new look will also come new management as the owners capitalise on the growing tourism industry in the region. All are to open in 2017 and will be under the Westin, W and St Regis brands. Le Meridien Dubai is just one hotel that is set to undergo a revamp in the near future. A number of luxury hotels in Dubai are to be managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts as part of an agreement with the Al Habtoor Group. The properties in question are to come under three of the Starwood brands – St Regis, W and Westin – and these are to be constructed on the site of the former Metropolitan Hotel. It has been reported that Qatar Holding, part of the wealth fund of the sovereign state, is to reveal a deal in the hospitality industry on the island of Sardinia. Among the investments to be made will be a number of luxury hotels. It is expected that the Qatari emir will be present when the signing of the deal is done in Italy in the near future. No official announcements have yet been made about the deal, so there is no information on the individual properties involved.

The Metropolitan Hotel in Dubai has been earmarked for demolition so that it can be replaced with a luxury hotel inspired by those in Las Vegas. The project is estimated to cost around $1.33 billion and will include no less than three luxury hotels with a total of more than 1,600 rooms, a large theatre, sports facilities and dining facilities. This is intended to be a lifestyle hotel that will have 200 rooms as well as 70 fully serviced apartments. Opening has been pencilled in for 2015 and the hotel is to be designed personally by Rosita Missoni to offer traditional Italian style.

The contract has been signed between the hotel’s management and the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority.
