Cape Town is filled with luxury hotels and some of these are award-winning establishments. Travel & Leisure magazine has just undertaken a survey to pick out some of the top hotels and holiday providers around the world, and the Victoria & Alfred Hotel has made the list of the top 15 luxury hotels in Africa and the Middle East, hitting the list at number four.
The hotel joins several other Cape Town establishments on the list, and it is both owned and managed by Newmark Hotels. This is a debut for the company on the list and is a real accolade for the management and staff. The readers of the publication voted for various hotels, travel companies and luxury amenity providers to find the results, so this is based on the votes of guests who have stayed at the hotel previously. The full results of the survey are to be published in August.
The building that is now home to the hotel started life in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse, and the conversion to luxury hotel took place in 1990. Guests enjoying luxury holidays in the city will be very close to all of the amenities of the city and will be able to make the most of all that the hotel has to offer.
The Victoria & Alfred Hotel has managed to capture the old world charm of the area and has a very colonial feel to it. Guests of all ages are welcome at the hotel and there is plenty to see and do in the area.
