The Accor hospitality group has opened its first Mercure-branded hotel in Russia. The hotel itself is owned by ARD and will be managed by Accor. Accor does have other hotels in Russia under other brands, and this new addition takes the total to 12. Those who want to take luxury holidays in Moscow will find the hotel in a perfect location, as it is in the heart of the historic district of the city where it is surrounded by boutiques, cafes, artists’ studios and restaurants.
With more than 100 rooms the hotel has a variety of accommodation to offer, including 18 Privilege rooms and four suites. The restaurant has a menu that is a blend of Russian and French dishes. The hotel also boasts a fitness centre, and plenty of meeting space for business travellers. Guests can make use of the complimentary Wi-Fi in the rooms, and there are facilities for making tea and coffee.
The Accor group is fully intending to continue this expansion in the years to come. This particular brand will be adding a further two hotels before the end of 2012 and one of these will be located in Sochi, the location for the Winter Olympics due to take place in 2014. As Russia becomes one of the top luxury destinations, the group is intending to have more than 50 hotels in the country by 2016. There are also plans for expansion into other countries, such as Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia, and these will be under brands such as Sofitel and Novotel.
