New luxury hotel in Chennai

25 May 2012

The Luxury Collection hotels group, part of the much larger Starwood group of luxury hotels, has announced that it is to open a new hotel in the city of Chennai in India. This will be the ITC Grand Chola and it is due to open in August.

The Luxury Collection currently has hotels in more than 30 different countries and the new Chennai hotel will join other iconic properties including the Romanos in Costa Navarino and The Gritti Palace in Venice. The design of the new property is palatial and will help to transport guests back to the empires of southern India. The views from the windows of the hotel are of parks and gardens, and the property is set to have its own amazing personality.

The restaurants of the hotel will serve menus from India, Italy and Asia, and there will be plenty of opportunities to be pampered in the hotel’s spa. With three swimming pools and more than one fitness centre, there will also be opportunities to get and stay fit. Business travellers will find that there is everything they need at the hotel.

The Grand Chola is set to have around 600 suites and rooms, as well as serviced apartments, and these have all been styled with traditional Indian features.

Starwood is not the only chain of luxury hotels that is expanding into India. The subcontinent is considered to be one of the main growth areas for tourism for the next few years and the investment that is being made in the region reflects this.
