Luxury hotel in Wick

24 May 2012

Ackergill Tower is a luxury hotel close to Wick. It has a prime location on the coast and guests can look out over Sinclair Bay and towards the Orkney Isles. The rooms have been finished to a very high standard and are filled with antiques, linking the rooms to people and places from the region’s past. The tower itself dates back to the 15th century and is a great place to visit for those who want to take luxury holidays in Scotland. It is only recently that the hotel has been open to guests generally – prior to this bookings were only taken from those who wanted to rent the whole hotel.

There are 28 en suite bedrooms at Ackergill Tower. Guests are able to take part in a variety of activities, including archery, croquet, golf, fishing, and guided walks around the local area. Luxury offers at the hotel include a variety of themed weekends, and there is a spa in the process of being created. The hotel will even provide jackets, boots and warm jumpers for those days when the weather has taken a turn for the worse. The staff at the hotel will collect guests from the airport or the railway station.

The nearby town of Wick has plenty of attractions, including the Old Pulteney Distillery, plenty of cafes and restaurants, and Ebenezer Place, which is officially the world’s shortest street. Trips are run from the area to John O’Groats and the Castle of Mey.
