The addition of several new resorts and luxury hotels at Inle Lake and Ngapali Beach has led to an influx of tourists to the region. Tourists from Europe are those who are visiting in high numbers. The first resort was opened by the Amara Group of luxury hotels and took five years to complete. The resort is just 4 kilometres away from the airport and the beach is one of the safest, with no currents to worry about or predatory sharks or crocodiles.
There are plans to expand the luxury accommodation that is on offer at the resort to include more bungalows. With additional extras, such as fishing trips on a traditional 70 metres long Myanmar fishing boat, there is plenty to keep guests busy. The bungalows currently on the site all have sea views and guests can make use of facilities such as internet access, individual air conditioning and round the clock room service.
Rather unusually there are no televisions in each bungalow. This is because the hotel management wants to encourage guests to make the most of the surroundings. There is a screening room available for those who want to watch TV. The hotel has a restaurant, bar, pool and fully equipped business centre.
This resort is being joined by the Ngapali Bay Villas, which is south of the airport. This will be opened in December and will feature a total of 32 villas, which are ideal for those who are taking luxury holidays in the region.
