Accolades for Sofitel from Travellers

02 November 2011

The Sofitel group of luxury hotels has boosted its reputation as a leading provider of luxury accommodation by earning a number of nods in the Readers’ Choice Awards from Conde Nast. No less than 20 hotels were mentioned, an improvement on the previous year’s total of 14. The hotels that were recognised are located all over the world and include the Sofitel luxury hotels in Cairo, Angkor, Fez, Siem Reap, Shanghai, Hanoi, Montreal, Munich, Budapest, Rome, London, Sydney, Queenstown, Cartagena, Buenos Aires, Chicago and Washington.

The group has announced that it is pleased to have received such recognition, in particular because the list of hotels has been put together by guests rather than industry experts and is based on personal experience. The new branding of the luxury hotels group has been credited with giving them a new image and helping them to create a collection of hotels which are consistent.

The new branding was designed to give them a new position in the luxury hotels industry. The aim was to make it stand out from the crowd and, as part of this, the number of luxury hotels managed by the group has been reduced from 200 to 120.

The Conde Nast awards are considered to be one of the industry’s top awards schemes and are the result of more than 8 million votes from those who regularly stay in hotels around the world. The details of the awards appear in the latest issue of the magazine, which is currently on sale.
