Walt Disney World in Orlando
30 March 2012

One of the biggest adventures that many families look forward to is a trip to Orlando, Florida, which is the home of Walt Disney World. Many attractions and thrills can be found within the realm of this world famous theme park. The biggest highlight of many family holidays to Orlando, Walt Disney World has plenty to offer for children of all ages, and activities for adults to enjoy. This theme park has come to be known as one of the best-loved family holiday destinations in the world.

The anticipation of a visit to Walt Disney World can reach fever pitch and a number of parents choose to keep the destination as a surprise for their youngsters until they land in Orlando with Walt Disney World on their doorstep. Preparation can also be part of the fun of a holiday based on such a theme park, as the park plays heavily on the characters that have become world famous by virtue of the late Walt Disney and the Disney-MGM Studios.

The property of Walt Disney World is as extensive as many cities and includes a wide range of its own services and amenities for visitors. It is so extensive that the theme park contains four main theme parks that are famous in their own right: Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios and the EPCOT Center of future technology.

The Magic Kingdom is the most famous element of Walt Disney World, featuring the famed structure of Cinderella’s Castle. Families with young children are likely to make this element of their visit the first stop, as the many renowned attractions cater extensively for ages below the teenage years. Fireworks and parades are a lively and traditional feature of the park and are scheduled on a daily basis.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is another of the four theme parks that make up Walt Disney World. This theme park reflects the strong attachment of Walt Disney to the natural world, housing more than 250 species of animals from around the world. The international aspect of the collection of animals is shown in the way that the theme park is laid out; shopping and dining areas are available. The adventures featured in the theme park also have an international flavour linked to the wildlife being featured, such as hippopotamus and crocodiles.

The third theme park of Walt Disney World is the Disney-MGM Studios site, which is a working film studio as well as a tourist attraction. The rides and adventures here are likely to appeal to the older children on a family holiday. Daily parades are also featured down the route of Hollywood Boulevard within the theme park.

The fourth of the theme parks within Walt Disney World is the Epcot, which is the acronym of Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, and it features educational exhibits and thrill rides for all age groups. The Epcot features Future World, which deals with the future of technology, and World Showcase, a pavilion that features 11 countries that showcases their respective cultures.
