Holidays to Denver

Overview of Denver holidays

Access to the Rocky Mountain National Park is a little more than 70 miles outside the city of Denver so a day trip would be sufficient to get an initial taste of the spectacular scenery and amazing nature to be found in the area. Panoramic views, mountain trails and the sight of elk or eagles are all things that attract visitors to this astonishing mountain range. Home of the world’s highest continuous highway, Trail Ridge Road, the Rocky Mountain National Park is truly a spectacle to be enjoyed and any travellers on holidays in Denver would do well to include a trip on the itinerary.

Another famous stop outside the city of Denver is the aptly named nearby city of Boulder, Colorado, which gives access to the Eldorado Canyon State Park, while an exploration of the mountains and scenery is also possible for visitors who spend their holiday closer to the city centre, as the trails at Echo Lake can be reached during a drive up to the peak of Mount Evans, which is usually only possible during the summer months due to winter snow on the summit, at over 14,000 feet above sea level.

In the city itself there are fascinating historic places to discover during holidays in Denver. A trip to the Colorado Railroad Museum or the Buffalo Bill Museum adds a further local flavour to the trip, with the chance to get a good feel of the historic Colorado steam railways or some background history on “Buffalo Bill” Cody, the legendary nineteenth century Wild West showman.

Other places to enjoy on holidays to Denver include the Coors Brewery Tour, for beer lovers to get a taste of the most famous local brew; the Museum of Nature and Science, which is the fourth largest museum in the USA and a must-see for its dinosaurs and digital planetarium and the US Mint, which is estimated to produce up to 50 million coins each day. Add to that the sights and shops around the city, including the Colorado State Capitol, the 16th Street Mall, Confluence Park, and the LoDo Historic District and Denver holidays are sure to be packed with nature, culture and one of the friendliest welcomes in the USA.
