Holidays to Krabi

Holidays to Krabi allow you to explore the heart of the western coast of Thailand along the warm southern beaches. Here, the Krabi River empties into the majestic Andaman Sea. The city is moderately sized, but tourism has become one of the biggest industries here. Thus, during the summer months, this location becomes a hot spot for international travellers. The beaches, sailing and coral reefs all help create the ideal getaway location.

The limestone cliffs are one of the main reasons people come to Krabi. This natural wonder affords ideal rock climbing conditions, even for those who are just starting to learn this skill (you can take lessons here). Visitors can hike through the forests or explore the unspoiled islands nearby as additional outdoor activities.

Holidays in Krabi focus specifically on the outdoors. There are several national parks nearby, all of which are open to the public. These include Ao Nang, Ko Phi Phi National Park, and Hat Noppharat Thara. Right off the sandy beaches are 80 small islands, expanding the options for water lovers. Some of the larger islands, such as Phi Phi Island and the Lanta Islands, are popular choices for yachtsmen, who can easily sail alongside and dock. These are also ideal locations for those who wish to scuba dive or go snorkelling. These outdoor experiences make Krabi an ideal place for the adventure-seeking traveller.

Another area to visit in Krabi is Ko Lanta National Park. Here, visitors can explore several islands with coral fringing. This is a great location for scuba diving. This area has several dive spots, including locations where visitors can rent gear and learn to dive with trained professionals. The headquarters of the park are at Ko Lanta Yai, the largest of the islands in this grouping. This island also has a unique group of people living on it, called the Chao Le, which translates to ‘sea gypsies’. These people sustain themselves solely by fishing. The best time to come to visit the islands is October through April, when the monsoons are over.

Many people take holidays to Krabi just for the sailing, while others come to bird watch. You may wish to visit the inland waterfalls or explore the natural caves found throughout the forested area. Several eco-touring groups have become popular and offer tours. Others visitors come to trek on their own.

Krabi holidays can provide guests with a modern experience as well. Local bars, hotels and restaurants offer modern amenities and a colourful nightlife. There is a riverside market where authentic Thai cuisine is readily available to guests throughout the day.

If you have come for the natural beauty, be sure to watch the sparkling sunsets that occur each evening. You can also enjoy the exotic marine life found in the waterways and sea. On the other hand, you may just want to sit back and relax on the warm beaches and sunbathe. In Krabi, the choices are endless.
