Holidays to Sweden

Situated between St. Petersburg, Russia and Copenhagen, Denmark, Sweden is easily accessible from any corner of the world. Holidays in Sweden are ideal for the adventure seeker looking to exercise their favourite outdoor activity.

Sweden holidays offer the outdoor enthusiast a wide range of things to do. Travellers can enjoy fishing, hiking, swimming or sailing in some of the most incredible sea waters, undeveloped land and crystal clear rivers in the world.

If you are seeking a more low-key way to visit the area, shoreline excursions offer a different way to enjoy some of the many attractions the area has. This region is full of cruise and boating options for visitors wanting truly memorable holidays in Sweden.

The main cities visited by those who take holidays to Sweden are Gothenburg, Malmo and Stockholm. Although they all share an abundance of museums, historic sites, parks and vibrant culture, Gothenburg’s maritime theme, Stockholm’s coolness and Malmo’s multicultural makeup will wow visitors.

Sweden holidays should definitely include a visit to the capital and central city of Stockholm. Comprised of more than 14 islands that are mostly interconnected via crisscrossed bridges the city, nicknamed ‘the Venice of the North’, represents many of the best qualities the region has. Filled with cool clubs, live music and trendy inhabitants, it is only the beginning to what visitors will encounter in this country.

Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city, is a gateway to the Western Archipelago. It extends its obvious maritime theme to those visiting through its many sights and sounds. The city has an international reputation for its cuisine, and features several Michelin Guide restaurants. This is where Liseberg, the country’s largest amusement park, can be found.

Malmo is Sweden’s gateway to Continental Europe. This cosmopolitan city is home to more than 164 nationalities and 100 languages. Its waterfront district offers travellers spectacular shopping, modern architecture and bustling street life.

When enjoying holidays in Sweden visitors should not forget the winter activities. The country is famous for its many ski resorts located throughout the Swedish mountains as well as dog sledding through Lapland in the Arctic Circle.

Climate

Due to the warm Gulf Stream, Sweden’s climate remains quite mild year round.
