Holidays to Mallorca

With a coastline that stretches more than 550 kilometres, holidays to Mallorca are ideally spent outside, on the beach or in the nearby mountains. Tourist hotspots are located all along the coast, but as you move inland, you will get a taste of what Mallorca is really like. If time permits, try and visit all three of the main parts of the island including the Serra de Tramuntana from the southwest to the northeast, the Serra de Llevant all along the eastern coast, and Es Pla, the central plain.

With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, it is hard to book Mallorca holidays without intending to spend some time at the beach. If you book your holiday from May through to October, the sea will be warm enough for swimming. However, during the cooler months, the beaches are still beautiful for sunning and lounging. One of the most popular beaches not to be missed is the Playa de Palma.

Holidays in Mallorca are also about pampering yourself. There are many luxurious boutique hotels and spas throughout the city ready to restore and refresh you in every way, so go ahead and spoil yourself while on holiday in Mallorca.

Because the sea is so accessible, Mallorca holidays are also about the fresh seafood, of which there is no shortage all year long. Specialties to the region include spiny lobster stew ‘caldereta de langosta’. If lobster is not your favourite, go for some fresh fish instead.

While on holiday in Mallorca, do not miss the opportunity to visit Palma de Mallorca. It is the island’s capital and is well worth a visit. It is a very old city filled with many architectural wonders, plenty of culture, and many decent restaurants. Another interesting place to visit is the village of Valldemossa. It is picturesque, charming and known for being a favourite destination of both Frederic Chopin and Georges Sand.

Nature lovers will not be disappointed on holidays to Mallorca. Of course, the beaches and the beautiful ocean are delightful but throughout the region are various collections of caves and coves to explore. Though you can take your pick, the Dragon Caves, also known as Coves del Drach, are the most widely visited and most easily accessible for visitors.

Your days do not need to be spent lounging on the beach and getting pampered while on holidays in Mallorca. If you want a little extra excitement, why not go hiking along the Serra de Tramuntana, one of the gorgeous mountain ranges offering some fantastic hiking trails. There are also plenty of opportunities to do a little mountain biking if you are so inclined.
