Holidays to Jamaica

Those people planning to spend their holidays in Jamaica will find no shortage of fun activities to take part in during their stay. Sightseers will not want to miss out on the experience of visiting port cities that once served as the homes and hideouts of pirates, nor the extraordinarily beautiful caves that once played home to runaway slaves. There is an almost limitless array of activities for those with a keen love of sports to enjoy while on Jamaica holidays as well. Most of these sports are water based and include boogie boarding, kayaking, parasailing, scuba diving, snorkelling and river tubing, although there are some land based sports for those less keen on water sports such as horse riding and golfing.

Beach lovers on Jamaica holidays will find plenty to their liking with a number of different types of beaches ranging from small, private coves to beaches that seem to be endless expanses of golden sand and clear blue sea.

The island is also a paradise for those who have a strong interest in nature, with many hiking trails, a crocodile park and the Royal Botanical Gardens at Hope, which is a national and international tourist attraction. There are also several museums including the Coyaba River Garden and Museum, which comes complete with stunningly beautiful gardens featuring natural springs and waterfalls, and fauna such as koi and turtles. Dunn’s River Falls, the point at which Dunn’s River enters the Caribbean Sea, is also a sight to behold and will be of interest to history lovers as well thanks to the fact that it was the location of one of the most famous battles between the English and the Spanish back in 1657.

Those on Jamaica holidays who are wondering if there will be anything to do after the sun has gone down need not worry as the island plays host to a rich, exciting and eclectic array of nightlife activities. There are bars, cafes (including jazz and blues cafes), and gaming establishments that are sure to keep just about everyone entertained after dark.

Those planning to go on Jamaica holidays might want to consult their calendar before making any bookings in order to try and match up their holiday stay with one of the multitude of annual events that occur throughout the year on the island. These events and festivals include the Rebel Salute, a concert event which features both local and international reggae players, the Jamaica Fat Tire Festival, and many more.

Whatever the budget of the traveller, there will be no concerns as to accommodation on Jamaica holidays, with a vast number of options ranging from easily affordable furnished apartments and bed and breakfasts all the way through to the most luxurious hotels on offer.
