Trois Rivieres, or Three Rivers, is an important city located halfway between Quebec City and Montreal. It is named for the three mouths of the Saint-Maurice River where it empties into the larger Saint Lawrence River.

Holidays to Trois Rivieres

An important waterway, the Saint-Lawrence was the main ‘highway’ through this area for fur traders and early settlers and today serves as an important commercial link for goods going between Canada and the United States. A city of over 130,000 people, Trois Rivières holidays include plenty to do and see. The majority of people in this area speak French. While English is spoken as a second language at most of the larger hotels, if you venture further out it would be wise to know a little French or carry a translation tool with you.

No holidays to Trois Rivières are complete without spending some time outdoors. There are five golf courses in and around the city, all 18 holes, and with pars ranging from 62 to 72. The Golf Pointe-du-Lac has a heated practice green, so you can keep up on your game even during the off-season. Stop by the Manoir de Tonnancour; built in 1725 as a private home, it is now an art gallery, and the building itself is as much a work of art as anything you’ll find inside. If the day is nice, stroll along Trois Rivières Harbour Park, which runs along the edge of the St. Lawrence River. In the winter a skating rink is created here and in the summer you can take in the natural beauty of the area or visit the Pulp and Paper Industry Exhibition Centre during your holidays in Trois Rivières.

Enhance holidays in Trois Rivières with wonderful lodgings. Try the four-star Auberge Godefroy golf and spa hotel. Standing on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, it offers suites and rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, an indoor swimming pool, and a golf course beside the hotel. A full-service restaurant, bar and business centre will complete your stay here. The Auberge du Lac St. Pierre is a 30-room hotel, also beside the mighty St. Lawrence River, and it offers massage and sauna services. The hotel itself offers intimate conference facilities and a restaurant featuring local cuisine. The Hotel l’Urbania Trois Rivières has facilities for meetings and conferences that can accommodate up to 400 people, a restaurant and bar. The rooms themselves are very comfortable and all have an en-suite bathroom. There is a business centre on-site with a full range of supplies.

Don’t end your holidays in Trois Rivières without doing a little shopping. Zellers Trois Rivières is a Canadian department store with everything from gardening supplies to high fashion all in one place. Plan B is a trendy clothing shop that has a lounge area in the store as well, so you can take a break during a long day of shopping. For a truly restful break, spend some time at the Tonix Spa Détente Urbain, where you can enjoy a massage, facial, manicure, pedicure and more.
